Candice da la Torre

  • Born February 7, 1980
  • From Staten New York
  • Began playing at the age of six, mother introduced me to the sport. 
  • Moved to Florida at 11 to further pursue a tennis career in the hopes of one day to play on the tour.  Attended Palmer Academy, Rick Macci Academy, Billy Stearns Academy.  Has worked with Tommy and Billy Thompson, Patricio Apey and Lorenzo Beltrame.
  • Had the privilege to practice with French Open Champion, Andres Gomez at the age of 16. 
  • Trained with Nicole Pratt, Cara Black, Elena Tatarkova, Erike de Lone, and Milagros Sequera, all players ranked in the top 100 on WTA Tour
  • 1997 played for Ecuador, became the Open National Champion, played on the 1997 Fed Cup team, and won the gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Bolivariano Games, in Arequipa Peru
  • Played Fed Cup for Ecuador again in 2001
  • 1999 - 2002 reached the finals of several satellites in singles and doubles and semi-final and quarter-finals in challengers. 
  • Won her first satellite in singles tournament in 2000 in Greenville, SC and her first doubles tournament in 2000 in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
  • Highest career singles ranking 340 and doubles ranking 290
  • Has traveled all around the US, Canada, South and Central America, and Australia.   
  • Retired in 2002 and has been coaching at Little Silver Tennis Club since 2003.  Currently works with players of all levels and ages, including some ranked ETA Juniors and has developed a passion for coaching and helping all players achieve their best.
